Freelance Viewing Host

Reporting To: Sales Team
Location: All over UK particularly in West Somerset, North Devon, East Sussex, Kent, Cumbria and North Yorkshire. In London we require hosts in South West, North West, and in particular E15 area.

Purpose

We are keen to hear from engaging people, with a passion for architecture and design, to expand our team of freelance viewings hosts across the UK. The Modern House is an estate agency that sells exceptional living spaces across Britain. We meet the growing demand for spaces such as lofts, architects’ own homes, warehouse and period conversions, coastal art deco gems, brutalist masterpieces, rural retreats and the country’s finest contemporary new-build projects. Every home we present to our audience demonstrates the fundamental principles of good residential design – materials, light, space and a connection to nature – no matter the location or price point. The Modern House sells homes throughout the country. Many of our clients do their house viewings themselves, but in the instances they can't, the Sales Team rely on our brilliant team of Freelance Viewings Hosts.

Responsibilities

The host's core responsibilities are:
  • Hosting viewings on behalf of The Modern House at agreed locations and times, as requested and directed by the Sales Team.
  • Providing feedback to the relevant Sales Advisor after viewings take place.
  • Being an exemplary ambassador for The Modern House.
  • Familiarising yourself with the homes you are showing, working with the Sales Team to ensure you have a basic understanding of the main questions that may be raised.
  • Attending previews with the clients and other sales team representatives from The Modern House prior to viewings taking place.
  • Providing access to homes for other third parties, e.g. surveyors and contractors.
  • Facilitating video call viewings at properties, as well as filming video tours, if required.
  • Handling keys, as well as alarm systems and any associated security measures installed in the houses you are showing.

Essential Knowledge & Skills

  • Organised. An ability to keep across an ever-changing schedule which may see you travelling to different locations and multiple properties.
  • Personable. You must be a natural people person and enjoy making conversation in a relaxed yet professional manner.
  • Punctual. Promptness is non-negotiable.
  • Communicative. It's essential that feedback is given to the sales team about how the viewing went, if there are any follow-up questions etc.
  • Flexible. We don’t expect you to be available all the time, but a degree of flexibility is really beneficial. Fridays, Saturdays and late afternoon/evenings are our most popular times for viewings.
  • Enthusiastic. A desire to learn the basics about the sales process and the houses you are showing.
  • Committed. Many of our Viewings Hosts have worked with us for years and we are looking to build long-lasting relationships with all of our new Hosts.
