A Home with a History: how a trail of clues led to the revival of The Southover Gallery, an artistic hub and home in Lewes

In 2024, Charlie Collins, her husband Matt Harris, their two sons and their Maine Coon, Wolf, made The Southover Gallery their home. They’d pined after the house from afar, until a series of extremely fortunate events led to them becoming its next custodian. It wasn’t until they’d moved in, however, that the extent of its artistic past, with its connections to the Bloomsbury Group and the remarkable 20th-century multi-hyphenate, Peggy Angus, became evident. Ahead of the gallery’s pop-up at the end of the month, Charlie talks to Inigo about returning the home to its former glory – with a twist.
