A loving renovation has recently turned two cottages and an old school hall into this exquisite three-bedroom home in Tangley, Hampshire. The interiors have been meticulously updated to a design by VOZA Developments, retaining traces of the original buildings in the form of exposed trusses and brickwork, paired with exceptionally high-quality finishes.
Setting the Scene
Church View is an architectural amalgamation of centuries-old structures, including two 19th-century flint cottages. VOZA Developments, a boutique property studio with an in-house team of RIBA-accredited architects, managed the renovation. The flint-and-brick façade has been subtly restored, with a pitched slate roof and window frames picked out in a taupe grey.
Tangley is a picturesque rural village set against the Wiltshire border, crisscrossed with ancient routes and historic architecture. The setting provides a richly lush and layered backdrop, while the house neighbours the local church.
The Grand Tour
The house is approached from the quiet Church Lane, into a private driveway screened from view by established hedging. Wisteria traces the front door that opens directly into the main stretch of the house; a predominantly open-plan reception-living area that curves in an L-shape around to a kitchen-dining space. Solid oak floorboards run underfoot against a curated palette of soft white and exposed brick.
The kitchen is an atmospheric space with a high ceiling and ecclesiastical windows that mould sculpted shadows across the surfaces. A wall of traditional shaker-style cabinetry is lined with richly veined marble worktops and fitted with a dark Lacanche range cooker beneath the windows. A repurposed haberdasher unit forms a smart kitchen island with a ceramic butler sink, while doors lead to the garden beyond. Adjacent lies a dining area, a wonderfully inviting space with a wood burner inside a brick-fronted fireplace.
Across from the reception room, a utility room is beautifully finished in dusty-rose red with a reclaimed-stone sink, terracotta tiles, and a staircase to the first floor. Next door, a useful shower room, enclosed in marble-style tiling, has its own entrance from outdoors – perfect for returning from countryside walks.
A discreet, white-painted staircase off the sitting room rises to the first floor, arranged laterally around three interconnecting bedrooms. The rooms are similarly decorated, with exposed original detailing and soft pastel tones enhanced by natural light entering through the windows. Delineating the two larger bedrooms is a bathroom – either used as an en suite or shared – with a freestanding roll-top bath, a walk-in shower, and brass fixtures.
The Great Outdoors
The garden is predominantly laid to lawn, enveloped in mature specimen trees and bordered by perennial planting. A terrace has been set up for outdoor dining in warmer months, centred on a delightful fire pit. From the garden, a gate leads directly into the churchyard, from which a short woodland walk directs to a charming local pub.

Tangley is an enchanting spot in the heart of the Hampshire countryside. Positioned alongside the parish church, Church View sits in a setting defined by quiet lanes, historic flint cottages, and uninterrupted rural views. Right in the village, The Fox Inn, a characterful 400-year-old pub, is a local institution, famed for its intimate atmosphere and authentic Thai cuisine alongside local ales. Nearby, neighbouring villages like Faccombe and Vernham Dean provide further country dining options, including the acclaimed Jack Russell Inn.
Miles of footpaths and bridleways unwind directly from the front door, sweeping through ancient woodlands, downland valleys, and iconic landmarks such as Combe Gibbet and the Test Way. The nearby market town of Andover provides extensive everyday amenities, and further afield Stockbridge and Hungerford make for wonderful weekend trips.
Tangley falls within a fantastic catchment area for both reputable state schools and acclaimed independent options.
